Lights, camera, potjie

In 2007, Abcon organized a Potjie Competition in its parking lot to raise funds for community upliftment projects benefiting needy South Africans. Eight teams participated, and the event’s success led to its continuation the following year. Since then, the Abcon Group Potjiekos Competition, now known as the Potjie, has grown substantially, with more than 120 teams participating in the 2023 event, making it a highlight on the Abcon Group’s calendar.

In 2023, the event raised R1.3 million through stand sales, corporate pledges, and donations. The proceeds benefited main beneficiaries of the Abcon Group Foundation.
